White Bear Lake, MN--After a year of renovation work, contractors are finalizing updates to the Graham Jewelers building on Fourth Street. According to a report in White Bear Press, the project aimed to modernize the space while maintaining its historic character.

The property has a long history in White Bear Lake. The White Bear Lake Historical Society noted that the site once formed part of the Ramaley house on Bald Eagle Avenue, later converted into Havenor Funeral Home. In 1911, William Vincent purchased part of the house and moved it to the corner of Banning and Fourth Street, where he opened Vincent's Grocery in 1914.

Vincent, who had only one arm, became a well-known local figure. The historical society recalled that his bulldog often sat in the grocery window, drawing the attention of neighborhood children. The store operated until Vincent died in 1959.

Engen Color Center then occupied the space from 1960 until 1994, run by Chris Engen and his son Art. The building later became home to Joel Sherburne Jewelers, which was eventually sold to Graham Jewelers in December 2023.

With renovations now complete, Graham Jewelers continues to play a long-standing role in the Fourth Street business community.
