New York, NY--The Gübelin Gem Lab has released the Gem Passport, a service providing documentation for unmounted emeralds, rubies, and blue sapphires of up to 3 carats.

Per a report by GJEPC, this initiative addresses the industry's hesitation to invest in gemological reports for smaller stones and more commercially available gemstones.

The Gem Passport, supported by Gemtelligence™, Gübelin's deep-learning software, includes essential identification details such as species, variety, country of origin, and a simplified disclosure of treatment status.

Utilizing artificial intelligence to determine these features reduces the time-consuming microscopic assessment process, making the service more affordable.

“We believe that the Gem Passport is a highly attractive and affordable service for stones which so far were not accompanied by a testing document from a globally respected lab,” said Daniel Nyfeler, Managing Director of the Gübelin Gem Lab, as per the report.
