Mays Landing, NJ--Harvey Rovinsky, the longtime president and owner of Bernie Robbins Jewelers, died on January 28 after a cardiac event. He was 77. He and his wife, Madalyn, grew the business to national prominence.

Mr. Rovinsky was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, incredible friend and a respected leader in the luxury jewelry industry.

A Philadelphia native, Mr. Rovinsky was born March 8, 1947. He was introduced to the jewelry business as a child, working with his father’s watchmaking business. At the age of 19, he joined Bernie Robbins Jewelers, which was originally founded as an appliance store in downtown Philadelphia by his wife’s Madalyn’s parents, Bernie and Lorraine Rosenberg. In 1969, Harvey married Madalyn, and together, they built one of the finest reputations in American luxury jewelry, expanding their business across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Under Mr. Rovinsky’s leadership, Bernie Robbins Jewelers became synonymous with exceptional customer service, unparalleled expertise, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. His commitment to excellence earned him and Madalyn the National Jeweler Retailer Hall of Fame Award in 2022, and Bernie Robbins Jewelers was recognized as a New Jersey Top Workplace by NJ.com, an honor reflecting the company’s outstanding employee engagement.

Mr. Rovinsky and his wife Madalyn were also known for their extraordinary philanthropy. Their work and support for organizations including Chabad at the Shore, the Sara & Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University, the Friends of the Israeli Defense Force, The Albert Einstein Society at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also served on the Executive Board of the Holocaust Resource Center.

The couple retired in 2024, and in an unusual move, they passed ownership of Bernie Robbins Jewelers debt-free to their management team, ensuring the continuation of the legacy of Bernie and Lorraine Rosenberg and its family-like atmosphere.

In addition to his wife Madalyn (Rosenberg), Mr. Rovinsky is survived by his daughter, Julia Rovinsky Rosenzweig (Adam Rosenzweig), granddaughters Sophia and Emma, sister-in-law Susan Stupine, nieces and nephews Erika (Seth Yablonovitz), Jeffrey Stupine (Farah), Bailey and Jay Yablonovitz, and Lilly Stupine.

Memorial services will be held at Joseph Levine and Sons, 4737 E. Street Rd., Trevose, on Sunday February 2 at 2 pm. A livestream will be offered at www.JSGFunerals.com for those unable to attend. Entombment will be private. The family asks that contributions in his memory may be made to the Chabad at the Shore, the Sara & Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center at Stockton University, the Friends of the Israeli Defense Force and to the Albert Einstein Society at Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital.
