Abingdon, VA--After 83 years of serving the Abingdon community, Greer Jewelers is closing its doors for good. Co-owners of Greer Jewelers, Susie Buckner and Carson Jackson, are retiring and the store that has been part of the community for 83 years is closing for good. The couple will host a liquidation sale with up to 70% off everything in the store.

Greer Jewelers was established by the Greer family in 1940 and began serving the close-knit Abingdon community’s special occasion needs, with M.I. Hummel Figurines, timepieces, jewelry and class rings. In 1976, Susie Buckner, who had just finished college, joined the Greer family as a store employee and by 1985 she and her sister and brother-in-law, Carson Jackson purchased the jeweler in 1985.

Greer Jewelers has always been very active in the community, contributing to charitable organizations, churches, schools and more; and helping their neighbors with engagements, birthdays, anniversaries and finding the perfect gift. In retirement, they plan on continuing to be involved in the community.

“We certainly thank people for being loyal friends and customers,” Susie said. “And we’ve always tried to treat people with respect, integrity and honesty in all of our business dealings and give excellent customer service. It’s pretty remarkable to have been in business for so long, and that’s what has set us apart.”

I just saw the notice that you are retiring and closing the jewelry store.  Congrats on retirement, but sorry to see the store close.
I am looking for a baby girl’s polished pewter hairbrush comb and brush set.  Do you have one?
Thanks so much - I was actually going to call this morning.
