Manchester, CT--A surprising incident left a significant mark on Bray Jewelers, a long-established business when a car drove into its front window on Friday morning.

The store has been a community landmark since 1915 and has operated from its downtown location for over 30 years. The owner had never seen such an event before and expressed his hopes that it would remain unique.

According to a WFSB report, Beverly Prutting, a local employee, was shocked by the scene. “I saw a car right in the shop there," he told the outlet. "I was concerned about the people inside and the people that own the store. I know they’ve been around quite a few years.”

The report noted that the accident involved two vehicles, with one driver losing control and smashing right into the storefront. Both drivers were transported to the hospital but were expected to recover.

The report highlighted that firefighters were busy dealing with the aftermath by 8:30 am, sifting through the broken glass. The extent of the repair costs is yet to be determined by the owner, but it was noted that the damage was limited mainly to the front window, with most of it appearing to be cosmetic.

In the report, resident Donna Conyers said the incident took her aback: “I just pulled up to get my jewelry and saw this, so I was a little bit surprised," she stated. "Hopefully everyone will be better and the shop will be open soon.”

The owner confirmed to the outlet that no items were stolen. He has plans to reopen as soon as possible, potentially by the coming Saturday.
