As per an announcement on their website, this two-day certification event will take place at the Gemological Institute of America's (GIA) bench classroom at their Carlsbad campus. GIA staff will proctor the exam, providing candidates with a rigorous and professional certification process.

The CBBJ exam evaluates the skills expected of an entry-level bench jeweler with approximately one year of experience in jewelry repair. The certification process begins with an online "open-book" written exam, which must be completed by August 1, 2024. Candidates must register for the exam by July 1, 2024.

The exam location is GIA World Headquarters, The Robert Mouawad Campus, 5345 Armada Drive. The announcement stated that the GIA Alumni Collective will offer a three-day preparatory workshop from August 5-7. This workshop aims to enhance participants' bench skills and review fundamental jewelry-making practices.

Per the announcement, the JA Bench Professional Certification fees are billed in two installments: $300 for registration and the written exam and $1,305 for the bench certification practical tests. The price is subject to the gold market. Payment is required at different stages: the first with the application and the second upon completion of the written exam.
