Fayetteville, AR—Craig Underwood, one of the industry’s leading independent jewelers, also is a renowned award-winning photographer. He has a new prize to add to his collection, having just won the 2020 Best of the Best photo competition of the Photo Society of Northwest Arkansas.

The Society holds a monthly online photo competition throughout the year, and in January, the 12 winning monthly photographs of the prior year are then judged for the Best of the Best.

“Needless to say, all 12 photos are really good!” says Underwood. “A huge thanks to the PSNWA for hosting this monthly competition and to all the other amazing photographers that participate,” he said. His winning image is of an ancient and massive bamboo forest in Kyoto, Japan (top image).

When he's not examining jewels, Underwood is an avid nature-lover. He and his wife Laura recently purchased and donated a former golf course—65 acres of land—to the city of Fayetteville, with plans in place to develop it into a community park. The park and the importance of the beauty of nature were part of a 28-minute documentary film on YouTube, titled Crafting Beauty In The Community, which highlights both Underwoods' jewelry and philanthropy. In the film, Craig and Laura Underwood talk about their passion for giving back. Watch the video here.
