Let’s Talk Jewelry Store Design—Focus on Art and AccessoriesFebruary 10, 2022 (1 comment)
|West Bloomfield, MI--When remodeling or starting a new building construction, clients often ask me about the use of accessories and decorations to impress their customers. I believe that a jewelry store without accessories is a showroom that lacks depth and character. Design and decor play a very important and beneficial role in successful jewelry stores. I always tell my clients that they can bring their showroom to life by adding accessories and decorations in many areas of their store.
As a jewelry store owner, it is pertinent that your individual personality is shown throughout your store. Customers want a unique experience. Using art allows you the opportunity to update your jewelry store every now and then to keep things fresh. For example, see picture below of Occasions Fine Jewelers, Midland, TX, incorporating black and white images of their hometown in a unique, artistic way.

To gain a competitive edge, jewelry stores across the country are increasingly incorporating art into their showrooms. Many of my clients display local artists and sell the art to customers. Whether to create an uplifting atmosphere, or a metaphoric statement, art in the jewelry store business matters.
Here are some easy examples of ways to incorporate art and accessories in your store:
Shelving to display unique items at Occasions Fine Jewelry
- Incorporate new, tall, free-standing shelving units to display unique items. See an example picture above at Occasions Fine Jewelry, a store I designed. This area in the store gave an interactive and boutique feeling to their showroom.
- Adding a statement mirror is important for two reasons. First, it gives your clients the ability to look at themselves with the jewelry on. Secondly, as an accessory and decoration it adds a complete look to your store. See example picture below from Lasker Jewelers, Rochester, MN, a store I designed.
- Using a bar cart is an inexpensive accessory. The great thing about bar carts is it can be used as a decoration or practically with beverages, glassware, and food. See example cart in picture below at Lasker Jewelers.

These are just a few ways you can incorporate accessories into your store, but there are hundreds of options. No matter what decorations you choose, be sure you’re using them to express your individual taste. After all, this is your showroom, and it should be an extension of who you are.
