The suspect pictured above broke in through the main door of a retail jewelry store at 7:30 a.m. The police believe that the suspect wanted to see if an alarm would be triggered. The suspect left the store, changed his clothes, and returned to take merchandise. Damage to the store and stolen merchandise was reported to be over $50,000.

If you have information, contact Detective Kristine Gregory of the Grand Junction Police Department at 970-549-5242 or JSA at 212-687-0328 or jsa2@jewelerssecurity.org.

Recommendations:
1. Put all merchandise away in a safe or vault when closed.

2. Damage to a store in a burglary can exceed the value of any low-end merchandise taken that is left out at night. Damage to a store may also result in losses involving business interruption. Put all merchandise away so your store is not targeted.

3. Burglars will sometimes break in and set off alarms and leave the premises to see whether there is police response. If no response, they return, and if there is response, they may wait until police leave and then go in.
