According to a report in Monochrome. this publication marks the brand's first authorized history of the Submariner dive watch, a significant move for a company known for its discretion regarding its iconic models.

Authored by Nicholas Foulkes—who previously wrote "Patek Philippe: The Authorized Biography"—the 252-page book is published by Wallpaper and will be available in English and French starting 16 September 2024. The volume combines new and original photography with historical images from Rolex, illustrating the Submariner's 71-year history.

Described as a comprehensive account of the Submariner—the first divers' watch guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 meters—the book retraces technical innovations and chronicles the adventures of pioneers who tested its prototypes.

Per the report, Rolex indicated that this publication is "the first in a series of titles exploring the brand’s unique watches," suggesting additional official histories are forthcoming.

Hardcover copies of "Oyster Perpetual Submariner – the watch that unlocked the deep" will be available for international purchase online from 1 October 2024.

A limited number of silk-bound copies will be exclusively available through the WallpaperSTORE for pre-order between 16–19 September 2024 and for purchase from 20 September onwards.

The book is priced at €125 or £100.
