A Triggered Alarm Prevents Downton Farmington Jewelry Store Robbery April 06, 2022 (0 comments)
Farmington, CT--A triggered safety alarm prevented an attempted robbery at a downtown Farmington store Sunday night, The Sun newspaper reports.
According to the report, the burglar gained access to the century-old Gerster Jewelers — a family jewelry store. The store was closed at the time.
The suspect fled the store without any items. No one was injured in the incident. The suspect also left behind a tool bag.
Jim Gerster, the store owner, said the authorities arrived on the scene on time. "They did an excellent job, and they helped us out and filled us in, and they were thorough about it and made sure no one was in there," he said, as per the news report.
Even though the suspect did not take any items, he did cause interior and exterior damage to the building. "He destroyed the whole place," Gerster told the newspaper.
The store will now be closed until further notice but will continue serving clients with online and pickup orders.
