Bath, ME--Springer's Jewelers is spotlighting the practice of transforming heirloom jewelry into new pieces through its estate and custom design services. The jeweler highlighted in a blog post how reworking older materials allows customers to preserve history while creating pieces with personal meaning.

The concept was illustrated in a recent Vogue feature on the wedding of Iona Judd and Elliot Mason. According to the article, Judd's gown included sentimental elements, including second-hand mother-of-pearl buttons from family clothing and a vintage cross pendant. Springer's Jewelers noted this as an example of how meaningful touches from the past can be reimagined into modern designs.

Through its 1870 Collection, Springer's repurposes vintage pieces into new forms. The jeweler stated in the post that antique cufflinks have been transformed into earrings, individual Victorian earrings turned into pendants, and older gemstones reset into new silhouettes.

These redesigns, the jeweler added, are both stylistic and sustainable, giving new life to existing materials.
