Suspects Steal Items Worth up to $5 Million in Beverly Hills Smash-and-Grab Robbery March 24, 2022 (0 comments)
Beverly Hills, CA--A smash-and-grab robbery took place March 22 in broad daylight, with suspects using sledgehammers to smash displays of high-end jewelry and watches stealing items worth millions of dollars.
A New York Post report stated that at least five masked suspects broke through the tempered glass window of Luxury Jewels at the 200 block of South Beverly Drive at around 1:40 p.m.
The jewelry store's owner, Peter Sedghi, told the outlet that he first heard the gunshots from his office.
"I told my employee, 'Get on the floor,'" Sedghi told New York Post. "As soon as I heard what I thought were gunshots finally stop, I grabbed my gun. First, I made sure my employees were OK. I then went outside, but they were already gone."
Sedghi revealed that suspects took around ten attempts to break the store's tempered glass. The report estimates that they took items worth between $3 to $5 million.
"[T]hey knew exactly what to take," Sedghi told New York Post.
Beverly Hills Police Department spokesman, Lt. Giovanni Trejo, told the publication that the identifications were not yet clear - not "even their genders, for that matter." "I told my employee, 'Get on the floor,'" Sedghi said. "As soon as I heard what I thought were gunshots finally stop, I grabbed my gun. First, I made sure my employees were OK. I then went outside, but they were already gone."
