Syvrud Launches Luxury Valuation Consultancy February 08, 2011 (0 comments)

Encinitas, CA—Jewelry valuation expert Patricia Syvrud has launched Joia Consulting, LLC, a company that will provide independent third-party advice to private, high-net-worth jewelry lovers in the United States and abroad. Among Joia’s services will be jewelry collection cataloguing and valuation, collection risk management, capitalization plans for liquidation or estate transition, and acquisition and sales consulting. 

Syvrud holds credentials as a graduate gemologist (G.G.) from the Gemological Institute of America,where she also worked as director of in-kind gifts and worked to develop a world-class jewelry and gemstone collection. Prior to her tenure at GIA, she served as a consultant to the curator of the National Gem and Mineral Collection at the Smithsonian Institution, where she catalogued the entire National Gem Collection. Since 2006, Syvrud has served as a pro bono consultant to former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright for her book, Read My Pins: Stories from a Diplomat’s Jewel Box,which she reviewed for pre-publication gemological accuracy, and the exhibit Read My Pins: The Madeleine Albright Collection.

Syvrud also holds an MBA from the University of Southern California,and is a licensed property/casualty insurance agent in the state of California.

Its consultants have worked with Tiffany & Co., the Smithsonian Institution, the Gemological Institute of America, the San Diego Natural History Museum, Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company, and QVC.
