Retailers Choose Top Pieces for Centurion 2011 Design Awards February 08, 2011 (0 comments)
Tucson, AZ—The votes are in, and 11 pieces were chosen as winners in the first annual Centurion Design Awards competition. Exhibiting designers and manufacturers were invited to submit a piece to the competition during the show. Pieces were on display during the Saturday evening opening reception dinner January 29, and again during Sunday evening’s 10th anniversary celebration dinner on January 30. Retailers were asked to submit their ballots during both events.
Here are the winning designs in each category: Alternative/Contemporary Metals, Edward Mirell; Bridal, Norman Silverman; Colored Stone Classic, Fai Dee; Colored Stone Fashion, Frederic Sage; Diamond Classic, Sethi Couture; Diamond Fashion, Siera Jewelry; Gold, Paramount Gems; Pearl, Yvel; Platinum, Uneek Jewelry; Sterling Silver, Raymond Hak Couture; and Watches, Frédérique Constant.
The winning pieces are pictured below with their descriptions.
Left to right, above: Edward Mirell 's three-tiered necklace of patented Black Ti, brought to brilliant color through an anodizing process finished with a laser pattern. Frederic Sage's one-of-a-kind 18K gold pendant on link chain features a natural tri-color tourmaline cabochon, accented with diamond. Tourmaline, 64.15 cts., diamonds 1.96 cts. t.w. Norman Silverman's oval cut center diamond and oval cut side stones surrounded by pavé diamonds in single-shank platinum ring. Below, Sethi Couture (division of Manak Jewels) entered these "True Romance" chandelier earrings with scalloped borders, rose cut diamonds, and accents of natural yellow-green diamonds.
Below, left to right: Siera's black and white diamond fashion ring. Uneek's 5.0 ct. pear-shaped removable pendant is complimented by a flawless procession of 19.62 carats of round and pear diamonds, accented with 764 micro-pave colorless diamonds (9.60 cts.). Total carat weight, 34.22 cts., all set in platinum. Yvel's natural color freshwater pearls combine 18k yellow gold set with 5.27 cts. of natural cognac diamonds. Below left to right: Fai Dee's natural ruby ring with large ruby center stone surrounded by pave set rubies. Frédérique Constant won with this Lady Automatic Chocolate Double Heart Beat watch, created by women for women, one of its most successful timepieces in the collection. Raymond Hak Couture's sterling silver bracelet is from his "Glamour Collection" and features 1.50 cts. of G-H VS2 diamonds. Suggested retail, $2,500.
