Louisville, KY--A recent survey by Purchasing Power, highlighted in their 2024 Retail Financial Wellness eBook, found that 87% of retail employees are satisfied with their current roles.

However, 46% reported that their employers are facing labor shortages, and 41% are working extra hours to compensate for the lack of staff.

Concerns Beyond Job Satisfaction

Despite enjoying their work, many retail employees are concerned about broader industry challenges. Key worries include labor shortages, pay rates, technological changes, and the importance of additional benefits.

Notably, 89% of respondents believe benefits are as crucial as salary for their career longevity.

Industry Resilience Amid Challenges

Assad Lazarus, chief commercial officer at Purchasing Power, noted that the retail sector has demonstrated resilience through various economic challenges, including the pandemic, inflation, and rising living costs.

While employee satisfaction remains high, Lazarus emphasized the growing importance of retention and recruitment efforts, challenges not limited to the retail industry alone.
