Merrick, NY—Hopefully nobody needs to be reminded that Mothers’ Day is this Sunday, May 9. Mother’s Day spending in total is expected to total a record $28.1 billion this year, up $1.4 billion from 2020, says NRF. The record spending on jewelry and electronics are the primary drivers of the increase and jewelry accounts for over half (59%) of the increase in spending. Electronics will account for about 28%. 

The biggest spenders will be younger consumers, ages 25-34, says NRF, and these are the shoppers most likely to be planning jewelry gifts, whether for their own mothers or spouses, grandmothers, or friends. 

Meanwhile, jewelers have posted a variety of social media marketing posts to spur customer interest in shopping for mom. Themes range from cheeky and clever to straightforward product suggestions. Here are a selection of 10 from retailers coast to coast:
