New York, NY—Bridal juggernaut The Knot announces the launch of “Hint,” a new service to assist couples in finding the right engagement ring and connect them to local jewelers.

Launched just in time for “proposal season” from November through Februrary—when 38% of couples get engaged, according to The Knot, Hint demystifies the engagement ring research and shopping process to help couples collaborate on finding the perfect ring.

Most people know what they like when they see it, but don’t know how to describe their preferred ring style. After identifying six engagement ring images (including many popular brands) as favorites at TheKnot.com/Hint, The Knot then translates the user’s favorite rings into a description of what they like. This personalized recommendation includes the style, shape, metal, and even designers based on the user’s favorites, plus deeper information on each category should they want to learn more. Hint’s personal recommendation, which includes a list of local jewelers to find each ring, can also be sent to the user’s partner, friend or family member. Once received, the proposer can connect with the local jewelers and share the board of favorites directly from TheKnot.com to create the ring that’s just right for them.

“80% of grooms said they got a little input from their fiancées or one of her friends or family members before purchasing the ring,” said Kellie Gould, editor in chief of The Knot. “Hint takes the anxiety out of finding the right ring and makes it even easier to drop the perfect hint to your partner.”

To celebrate the launch of Hint, The Knot is hosting a sweepstakes where three lucky winners will receive an engagement ring from KARL LAGERFELD and an American Express gift card from Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company to help with wedding planning purchases. Users can enter the sweepstakes by submitting their name, email, and zip code, and will receive an additional entry by “favoriting” six rings on Hint.

XO Group, publishers of The Knot, also recently acquired How He Asked, the leading digital proposal story platform.
