Billings, MT—Goldsmith Gallery Jewelers has been chosen as the “best jewelry store” in Billings by readers of the Billings Gazette. Image: Owners Scott and Kelly Wickam.
Goldsmith Gallery Jewelers is owned by Scott and Kelly Wickam. Scott, who grew up in the jewelry business and graduated from GIA (Gemological Institute of America) in 1987, began his adult career in the industry as an instructor at GIA, teaching students the art of jewelry design and creation. After a few years as an instructor, Wickam made the life-changing decision to open his own fine jewelry retail store. With just 10 custom, handcrafted pieces, Goldsmith Gallery Jewelers opened its doors in downtown Billings, MT, in April of 1990.
Before long, the small downtown storefront grew to a 7,500-square-foot environmentally conscious boutique, filled not only with Wickam’s own custom treasures but also key luxury jewelry and watch brands like Rolex, Hearts On Fire, A. Jaffe, Le Vian, Fana, and many more. Scott Wickam is renowned or his diamond-buying trips to Antwerp, Belgium, and of course being in Montana, the store also offers a collection featuring the prized Yogo sapphires native to Montana.

Scott and Kelly Wickam’s children, Haylie and Brayden, are now in the business as well, with Haylie following in her father’s footsteps as a designer with her own “Haylie Ann”collection.
In an interview with the paper, Wickam proudly pointed to his staff, many of whom have been at the store for more than a decade. “They know their customers and they know the jewelry business. We like to say what we can do, rather than what we can't. Since we also custom make jewelry, there isn't much we can't do. We have happy customers that have come back over the generations.”
For customers, the Goldsmith Gallery experience includes not only the robust selection but also personalized service, financing options, a customer lounge with beverages and TV, and complimentary gift wrap on all items. For the community, the Goldsmith Gallery experience means giving back.
Since the store’s inception, giving back has been a core principal of the company, as well as a family commitment for the Wickams. Goldsmith’s annual sponsorships and donations reach a broad assortment of philanthropic organizations, with a key focus on children, visual and performing arts, medicine, and education.
For decades, the Wickams have contributed to many local and national charities, including Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, American Legion Baseball, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Rocky Mountain College, Montana State University – Billings, Billings Clinic, St. Vincent Hospital, and many more, especially schools, sports teams, performing arts centers, and medical organizations, who receive continued support through both financial and in-kind contributions from the jeweler.
“It's an honor to be voted Best Jewelry Store by Readers’ Choice. We are thankful for the votes, but mostly for the customers who support us! We couldn't do it without our customer base & our supportive community,” Scott Wickam told the Gazette.
Finalists in the jewelry category were Berkman Custom Jewelers and Greenleaf’s Jewelry.
