Los Angeles, CA--Luna Skye, a fine jeweler whose celebrity clientele includes Meghan Markle, Angelina Jolie, and Miley Cyrus, is launching a limited collection of 15 reworked vintage Rolex Datejust 36 watches. This move follows a long tradition of luxury watch customization, tracing back to the 1970s when Kirk Rich began reworking watch dials in California.

Per a report published in SCMP via Bloomberg, the collection features 15 two-tone Rolex Datejust 36 watches, each with distinctive customizations. These watches, sourced and restored by a Los Angeles expert dealer, come in fluted and domed bezel styles. Samantha Conn, the founder and creative director of Luna Skye, chose the two-tone Datejust 36 for its iconic status and personal significance, aiming to retain the classic Rolex aesthetic while infusing her creative vision.

The report noted that while staying true to the original design, the reworked Rolex watches feature gemstone and 14k gold accents, reflecting three themes: Good Luck, Dark Mermaid, and Emerald. Each design pays tribute to Conn's inspirations, from her Southern Californian roots to whimsical motifs.

Priced between $20,$195, and $21,925, these watches represent the fusion of material value, craftsmanship, and rarity, and while they may not cater to traditional Rolex enthusiasts, they offer a unique and conversation-worthy alternative for collectors seeking something different.
