Free Appraiser Webinar: DOING APPRAISALS CORRECTLY DURING/AFTER COVID-19 April 23, 2020 (0 comments)
Merrick, NY—The Centurion presents a FREE EDUCATIONAL WEBINAR, with the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF JEWELRY APPRAISERS (NAJA): DOING APPRAISALS CORRECTLY DURING AND IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, on THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 2:00 PM EST.
The featured speaker will be DAVID S. ATLAS, PRESIDENT, D. ATLAS & CO., INC., NAJA ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR AND CHAIR OF ETHICAL ISSUES
We are thrilled that David Atlas will be covering the following key areas during this fascinating Free Appraisal Webinar:
- How can an Appraiser correctly price diamonds and fine jewelry in the midst of and immediately following the COVID-19 Pandemic and ensure the report is safe to write and that the client is well informed? While Appraisers don't get into predicting the future, the markets will be in a new environment post-Pandemic and this does need to be considered.
- People Passing Away during COVID-19 will also present a very special case for an Appraiser. The diamonds and jewelry are supposed to be valued at the date of death, but there is not much of a market during the Pandemic. Perhaps High-Net-Worth Individuals who pass away at this time are saving their heirs a large amount of money.
- How to handle Appraisals when there is potential that Man Made/Lab Grown Diamonds have been mixed in with the diamonds and jewelry being appraised? This discussion will cover how to find and handle such stones in a sensible way. Whether the client is the Buyer or Seller also comes into play.
David S. Atlas is a Graduate Gemologist of Gemological Institute of America, (1975); National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, Senior Member 1992 to 2014 and Certified Senior Member, 2014 to present; Accredited Gemologists Association, Accredited Senior Gemologist, 1981; Master Gemologist Appraiser designation 1984
His expertise covers diamonds, colored gems, precious metals, jewelry manufacturing, stone setting, quality control analysis, estate & antique jewelry, enameling, laser and machine engraving, gem identification, collectibles, diamond light behavior, and appraisals at all levels, and he serves as the associate director and chairman of Ethical Issues Committee of NAJA.
