Green Bay, WI--When was the last time you asked that of yourself or a fellow salesperson when a customer walked out without buying?

We often think our closing ratios are higher than they are, and we rest in the comfort of the sales we do make. But simply making a habit of asking this question without being defensive about it can really help you get better as a sales team and an operator.

I encourage you to ask the question after the customer leaves (when and where appropriate), in your morning huddles and in your weekly staff meetings. Perhaps it was something you could have done better in your sales conversation. If so, learn from the experience and apply it. Grow through it. Or maybe it was something about the store. You didn’t have the product they wanted, or you didn’t offer the service they needed or maybe they were allergic to the store mascot Daisy the shih tzu.
