Merrick, NY—March was filled with major news for the jewelry industry, not least of which was finding NiMo. Nirav Modi, the diamantaire wanted in India for defrauding the Punjab National Bank of potentially billions, was found and arrested in London after a year on the lam in which he turned out to be living happily and luxuriously. The Basel fair prepares for a Swatch-less future, while we sadly lost a beloved retailer, watched as J. Lo scored yet an even bigger engagement ring than her previous three, and smiled as a designer’s granddog nabbed a starring role in her marketing.
