Merrick, NY—Happy Halloween! October thankfully was not a scary month for jewelers. In the run-up to the holiday season, jewelry sales picked up in September, JIS and Centurion South Beach did brisk business, and JSA’s annual report showed jewelry crime went down more than 25% in 2018. In the diamond sector, DPA kicked off its fall consumer ad campaign and tapped a luxury marketing expert as its new CEO, while De Beers’ Lighthouse brand of lab-grown diamonds bowed at Bloomingdales and Reeds Jewelers.
